Iskunvaimennindynamometri

In this final thesis, a suspension dynamometer was designed and put into effect. The dynamometer was used to measure changes of vertical acceleration, motion and velocity which were produced by mechanically oscillating the suspension with the EUSAMA suspension tester. The main goal for the thesis was to find out if it is possible to define the condition of the suspension by analysing the motions, accelerations and velocities of the body and suspension itself.

The method is based on the harmonic and forced oscillator (classical mechanics). The vertical motions and accelerations were measured with laser position transducers and acceleration sensors. Data acquisition was made with MoTeC ADL 2 (Advanced Dash Logger 2) and the data was analysed with MoTeC i2 Pro analysing program. The measurements were made to one passenger car which had normal coil springs and shock absorbers. Both operational and inoperative shock absorbers were used and measured.

Results show accelerations and motions between operational and inoperative shock absorbers. In reference to the results, this dynamometer layout can be used to measure the condition of the suspension without dismantling the suspension.
