The employer of this thesis was the School of Renewable Natural Resources of Oulu University of Applied Sciences. As degree programme for horticulture ceased to provide any active classes in 2014, a question of giving additional education for the graduates of the horticulture program was raised.

The purpose of this thesis was to find out by questionnaire how interested the graduates would be in additional education, which possible subjects they found the most intriguing, what time of the year they would prefer to have the courses held and also what type of education they would prefer. The background material used as reference for the questionnaire were topics covered in horticulture trade journals in recent years.

23 responses to the questionnaire were received. The invitation to participate was sent to 49 graduates. The majority of the group who responded showed great interest in attending the possible additional education. Many of the graduates shared the view that their current knowledge, in some subjects that they had found important in working life, was insufficient. They hoped that with the additional courses they could better their abilities in these fields. The answers and opinions shared by the graduates in the survey can be used as background information for the planning and realization of the additional education.
