Vanhempien kokemuksia kasvatuskumppanuuden toteutumisesta : Kuvaileva kirjallisuuskatsaus

Purpose of the study was to assemble evidence-based knowledge of parents’ experiences about actualization of educational partnership in early childhood education. The aim was to describe parents’ experiences and to present development proposals about how to develop educational partnership based on their experiences.

The study was qualitative and the method was a descriptive literature review. Results of six previous studies on the same subject were used as the data and it was analyzed using the method of thematic analysis.

Results revealed that parents regarded educational partnership as a meaningful part of the co-operation with kindergartens. Slow and relaxed pace when the child is starting daycare, daily conversations, trust, paying attention in one’s communication and experiencing the sense of community were aspects that parents had positive experiences of and that they felt had strengthened the educational partnership. Primary nursing, early childhood education discussions and informing were aspects that divided parents’ experiences. Development was requested particularly for electronic communication, dialogue between the parents and employees and the sense of community.

Multiple proposals were made for developing educational parenting based on the experiences of the parents. Early childhood education discussions, primary nursing and starting daycare needs to be developed to serve both employees and parents’ needs better. Development of ways of informing needs to be continued and focused especially on electronic communications. Sense of community should be enhanced and parents should get to be more involved with the planning and organizing different events. Employees need to pay more attention to how they meet the parents when they come to kindergarten and how they describe children’s day to them. Personnel working at the field of early childhood education can make use of the results of the study to advance the planning and development of educational partnership.
