Alaselkäkivun erotusdiagnostiikka ja fysioterapia : Opetusmateriaali fysioterapeuttiopiskelijoille

Low back pain is one of the most common causes of sick leave. Its prevalence has increased when people's lifestyles have become more passive. Back health has a direct connection to the entire body functioning. The responsibility of physiotherapists is growing in the health care system among people who suffer from low back pain. Therefore therapists must be able to choose valid treatment programs to get the best results.

We chose this topic because musculoskeletal physiotherapy has interested each of us from the very beginning of our studies. We wanted to choose a subject which familiarization supports as much as possible our own professional growth. We planned right approach to the theme together with our instructors. From many options we chose self-study material for physiotherapy students. Self-study material allows us to go deep into low back pain and its physiotherapy.

Our study-material is easy to use and it is available both in electronic and printed form. Structure of our material is planned to support student’s first practical training and those which are still to come. Material is useable in working life also. The theoretical framework of our work is based on Käypä Hoito 2015– recommendations. Domestic and international literature from physiotherapy and medical publications has been used also. Further development idea could be therapy treatment programs based on different diagnosis. We concentrate to clinical inspecting and interviewing in our work. There are diagnosis based physiotherapy treatment methods also. In self-study material there are case studies from different low back pain causes which vary in difficulty and length.
