This thesis is about differences and similarities of teaching basics of couple dance and dressage for adults. Purpose of the study is to compare teaching methods and how the objectives are met with chosen methods. What kind of mental imaginations are used and are they transferable between these two sports. I´m interested in this topic, because I have experience from both sports.

My research method was a theme interview designed for professional teachers. Four interviewees, two teachers from each sport, were interviewed for the study. The three significant teaching methods are: mission in learning, ability grouping in learning and supervised realization. In both sports these three methods were most popular and set learning objectives came true with them. All mental imaginations seek to improve the learners sense of embodiment. Most of the mental imaginations used are specific to a particular sport. If mental imaginations are to be transferred between sports, they should be modified to each sport.
