The subject of our thesis was to produce an educational DVD in co-operation with the project Virtual Learning Environment of Medical Treatment. The project was carried out by Oulu University of Applied Sciences. The name of our product is Administration of Medicine as an Intravenous Injection. The DVD is a part of virtual learning environment.

The objective of our thesis was to produce a DVD, which shows the right way to use a closed luer access split septum device, to execute medical treatment and safely to work in an aseptic way. The purpose of the project was to produce educational material about medical treatment to nursing students and professionals.

We started to collect knowledge about our subject and then we made a project plan and prepared a manuscript. The DVD was filmed in Oulainen Unit of Health Care. Media Assistant students from Ylivieska Vocational College were responsible for technical execution of the DVD.

A group of nursing students evaluated our product. They gave us positive feedback concerning that the DVD is high-quality, educational and it meets with our targets. It can be used as a teaching aid, a support in independent studies and in repetition.
