The purpose of this thesis is to improve Oulu Convention Bureau’s digital marketing communications. The aim is to increase Oulu Convention Bureau’s awareness among customers. This thesis is a follow-up to a practical training in OCB.

The topic for the thesis was created together with the commissioner. Oulu Convention Bureau is developing new websites, which provided an opportunity to examine digital marketing furthermore. This thesis introduces digital marketing channels and provides practical procedures for each of the chosen channels.

The material for the research was gathered from existing materials, benchmarking and interviews. The theoretical background consists of consultancy services, business to business marketing, marketing communications and digital marketing. The main focus is in digital marketing channels. The outcomes of the thesis are the introduction of digital marketing channels and the practical procedure recommendations for each of the chosen channel.

This thesis provides a tool for the commissioner to develop its marketing communications plan and also to build a digital marketing communications mix that supports the new websites. Using of digital marketing communication improvement suggestions leaves to the commissioner’s responsibility. A further research subject would be about the effects of digital marketing communications.
