In Finland it has been estimated the 55 000 –80 000 pressure sore patients every year. The pressure sores were found in the acute care on 13% and in the longtime -care on 16.5% and on 22.5% of the patients on the ones belonging to the intensified home care. In a European study the cost of one pressure sore was obtained 5 000- 6 650 euros. We produced the dissertation to the town of Oulu, into use of the nursing staff to Sanninkoti. In addition to the importance of the subject, we chose it also because of our interest and our learning.

We wanted to do the dissertation which serves our future profession as well as possible. Because of this we chose a functional dissertation. It was our objective to make to the working life the clear guide what is easy to read. We carried out the guide in the cooperation with Oamk and the town of Oulu, Sanninkoti.

The guide produced by us is based on the newest facts that are based on the reliable literature of the field and that has been examined. Also from the internet, hotus, wound care association and from the sides of the finnish association of the surgeon of blood swamp we have got expert and reliable information about the subject comprehensively. According to the study foundation of the nursing, the risk assessment of pressure sores has to be made immediately when the patient has been arrived at care or at the latest after eight hours of an arrival to the care. Attention has to be paid to risk assessment, a skin and textures, nutrition, position care and rehabilitation and special groups. The recording has to be uniform.
