This thesis contains two parts – theory and education. Our projects purpose is to provide latest information about the prevention of bedsores of the long term patients to the staff of the Karjalahti service center when the clients of the ser-vice center benefits. Goal is also to increase our own knowledge about preven-tion of bedsores using previous information based on studies.

Theory is based on Käypä hoito - recommendation about treatment of bed-sores, and we have also collected the facts from other internet databases and book resources. Thesis contains widely information about bedsores and how to prevent them. The education session that we organized to the staff of Karjalah-ti, contained information about bedsores as a concept, skin and factors that leads to bedsore, grading of the bedsores, economical meaning of bedsores, risk grading and treatment of bedsores. The feedback that we gained, shows that the education session went well, and they were neces-sary.
