Supervision provides a contractual, supportive and developmental process to explore and learn in practicing, working and collaborating. The program is made for professionals, practitioners, managers, teams and workplaces. It has been noticed that there is a need for associative cards in the working field of Supervision according to Tanja Vähäoja who commissioned this thesis.

The objective was to design and illustrate associative cards to be used as a tool in Supervision. The purpose of this research was to find out what kind of associations a target group have to the given words of Supervision. The study was qualitative and a questionnaire concerning the associations was given to the target group still active in working life. The theory part of the thesis focused on the theory of Supervision, dealing with visual literacy, interpreting pictures, symbolism and association as well as the method of the associative cards.

According to the answers of the questionnaires, associative cards were designed and illustrated for being used as a tool in Supervision.

Collaboration with Tanja Vähäoja will continue and the goal is to produce a pack of Supervision associative cards to the market.
