The purpose of the company is to implement its business idea and to generate profit through its operations. Success is based on many elements that involve functional processes. High-performance and productive processes require smooth flow, which is sought by eliminating factors that slow down and prevent process flow. Better productivity is achieved by eliminating non-added-value activities, so attention is often focused to actions such as reducing warehousing, transportation and defects. Although the actions are correct, it is appropriate to ask what are a perspectives of development activities. Defects can be reduced by additional instructions and inspections, but it is justified to think that a different perspective will lead to more sustainable solutions. For example, a product can be designed so that assembly work can only be done correctly and without extensive instructions. Such an aspect reduces the load factors of data processing functions of the brains, whereby the cognitive attention required by the work is focused on the essential.

Lean management will streamline the flow of processes and clarify their control and development, so it is justified to think that Lean will affect cognitive attention. The main goals of the study are to identify how Lean promotes cognitive attention, as well as to develop a theoretical model, which connects attention and Lean by visual way. The nature of the research is qualitative and theoretical. Literature and scientific articles related to the disciplines of science forms in a secondary way empirical research material. The analysis of the material is based on a hermeneutical approach.

The goals of the study have been achieved and the results confirm that Lean management is an advantage to the realization of the attention. Lean leads to a reduction in the load factors of the data processing functions, so focusing attention to the essential is more likely. Orientation related to goals, planning and situation awareness as well as to absorbing disadvantages are key factors in both of those. Those are recommended perspectives for the development of operations, as is also Lean implementation in a sustainable way. From the perspective of cognitive attention, Lean promotes the positive development of people's thinking, know-how and continuous improvement, as well as, work engagement generated through the motivation and emotional activities.

Cross-disciplinary research has produced new information that gives a new perspective on Lean's implementation. In the theoretical model, cognitive attention is raised to the discussion in a new way. It also highlights the importance of attention as part of the achieving business goals. The results can be utilized in development work and training and they gives support to decision-making related to implementation of Lean. The results give a starting point for further research, which is recommended to examine how the theoretical model works in practice.
