This thesis is a study written in a diary format and its purpose is to depict day-to-day tasks of an M-Files information management systems specialist in a 10 week time period. The aforemen-tioned tasks are analyzed in a daily cycle and with a weekly walkthrough, where challenges and solutions to those challenges are looked over. Where possible, the solutions are backed up by articles and documentation of well-proven methods.

A diary-formatted thesis helps the student to analyze his own skills and the development of his know-how in the field of an IT-consultant and also gives the reader a comprehensive overview of the job description and necessary skills of an M-Files system specialist.

During this thesis the student works in a consulting firm Laavu Solutions Oy which offers compa-nies IT-solutions and consulting services.
