The objective of this thesis was to examine what kind of urge small and medium sized companies do have towards marketing- and sales support services in Oulu. The assigner was professional service office SK MOTIO Finland Ltd. Thesis also examined what kind of opportunities and challenges companies see outsourcing professional services. It also explains what kind of experiences do companies have outsourcing these kinds of services.

The study's resource method was qualitive research, which was carry out as a theme interview to beforehand selected companies. For this research were interviewed four chief executive officers (CEO) from small and medium sized companies in Oulu. All the companies functioned in different field of business. The theoretical framework of the study was gathered from the literature, articles and from the Internet. Reliability of these sources was ensured using the well-known publishers, writers and first source information from the Internet.

Research shows that there could be demand for outsourcing marketing and sales support services. Although interviewees preconception was slightly reserved outsourcing these services. Mentioned challenges towards marketing and sales support services were inadequate knowledge about buyer’s field of business, giving dis-information to consumers and unsuccessful customization of service. Opportunities were fresh ideas, new customers and growth in sales. The assigner can use these research results to their marketing strategy, service development and solicitation of new customers.
