The topic of the thesis is the standardization of friction welded rods for hydraulic cylinders, and it is commissioned by Norrhydro Oy. The work was related to a friction welding machine to be introduced in connection with the company's new production plant. Friction welding partially replaces the current MIG / MAG welding method of connecting the cylinder piston rod to the bearing housing.

As a result of the thesis, ready-made 3D models and drawings were created for the first 18 cylinder models to be transferred to friction welding. Changes to the cylinder rod assemblies were documented in the design guidelines, which will enable the modification work to be carried out in the future. In addition, design work was done for 10 bearing housing mounting tools in connection with the thesis.

The detailed results of the thesis are information that belong to the internal use of the client company, so this report deals with the topic of the work at a general level.
