My thesis is to examine the amount of pellet plants located in the Northern Ostrobothnia region in 2010. Pellet plants were searched for PELLETime-project by project work. Pellets heating plants were sought in autumn 2010 and for each of these plants were made identical questionnaire interview. On the basis of an interview and derived from spatial data was made the observation map using GIS software and marked all founded heating plants. The same query was the basis of the thesis. The research topic of the thesis is pellet plant potential problems, what problems are there and how much. Another topic was the user satisfaction with pellet heating plants, how satisfied were the users with pellets as a fuel. The study was conducted with survey interviews, where every identified heating plants were interviewed. The results were dissolved and were treated with a qualitative method. The results showed that pellet heating plants are relatively new, that shows there has not been any major problems or defects in any heating plant. Problems encountered were relatively small and repairable with maintenance. Pellets were good choice for a fuel cause of price, convenience, and the adequacy. Any negative comments didn`t appear. In conclusion, the results emerging a positive attitude towards pellet surely reflects the current the rising popularity of pellets as a fuel for heating plants. In future rise in the number of users can be expected.
