BACKROUND. Biomedical laboratory scientists need to have sufficient vision and colour vision especially when working in a laboratory. Those students who have been accepted to the Degree Programme in Biomedical Laboratory Sci-ence should submit a certificate of their vision. However, there is no certain way how the vision should be examined. AIM. Our aim was to describe biomedical laboratory scientist students’ vision in the years 2009-2010 and also to compare if there had been any changes how the students’ vision was tested in the years 2009-2010. METHOD. Our thesis was a quantitative study. The material for this study was given by Oulu University of Applied Sciences. The study involved students’ vi-sion certificates from the years 2009-2010. We analyzed the data using IBM SPSS Statistics 19 –programme. RESULTS. Our study revealed that the students’ vision was good and students’ visions were tested better in 2010. CONCLUSIONS. This study shows that if the vision of biomedical laboratory scientist students’ vision is tested in the way it was done in the year of 2010, the probability that the students will be successful at their work is more likely.
