The assigner of our thesis project was the School of Health and Social Care, Oulu University of Applied Sciences.

The aim of our thesis project was to find out what kind of educational needs laboratory personnel has and what kind of updating education Oulu University of Applied Sciences should arrange to ensure the knowledge of the personnel in working life.

Our thesis project was a quantitative questionnaire-based study for the personnel of laboratories in Northern and Central Finland. We sent queastionnaires to 34 different laboratories. Our sample contains 93 respondents.

Our main result was that laboratory personnel needed updating education on examinations performed at the level of primary health care. With the help of the results Oulu University of Applied Science could arrange updating education for laboratory personnel.
