I chose the Chinese business culture as the topic of this study as a result of personal interest, as well as the time is spent in Shanghai as an exchange student via my school. In order to obtain a great deal of autonomy over the topic and the content of the study, there is no client for this study. This might turn out to be of great value later on, should I decide take my company (649 Consult- ing) to the aforementioned market. The objective of this study is to introduce a practical perspective into commercial relationships and the creation of them in the Chinese market from the viewpoint of an emergent business. The background informing this study consists of articles from textbooks and the internet discuss- ing the history of the Chinese economy and its evolution to its present state. The study itself aims to evaluate the information provided by the interviews. The method of this study is an interview of both Finnish and Chinese persons. The interviews aim to provide some insight, which may be of relevance to persons working in contexts like the Chinese business culture. No straightforward resolution or answer to the research questions will be provided, as it is my belief that in studies such as this one, there is no exact answer and being successful in negotiations comes down to the prevailing culture, industries, time and personal chemistries between negotiating parties.
