This thesis compares small and big company’s visual identity renewal processes. The web page renewal which was done as the production part of this thesis gave the spark to continue with the renewal topic also in the study part of the thesis. This thesis compares small and big company’s visual identity renewal processes. Author’s own practical experience bases on the other company’s, Satulli’s, visual identity renewal. The knowledge gathered during the web page renewal process (technical skills, designing new visuals and the overall production time schedule controlling) is used as the own applied knowledge base of the studied topic. The study part of the thesis is about small and big company’s corporate visual identity’s renewal process’ happenings and compares these phases. The compared companies are Decor and Gift Shop Satulli and Outokumpu. The main study question is How does small and big company’s visual identity renewal processes differ? As a result for this study case the small and big company’s renewal processes were different in every phase of the process. The theory part, which clarifies the corporate types and the center phases of corporate renewal processes, is based on literature about the topics. The research methods for this thesis’ newly presented knowledge are interviewing, question forms and actually working with renewal process. By presenting the different phases of a corporate visual identity renewal process and comparing two different companies’ processes the goal is to open up the practical progress of the happenings for other media students and professionals, especially for graphic designers, who are interested in working with corporate visual identity renewal processes.
