The aim of this thesis was to review the current measurement system of Oulu Seudun SähköVerkkopalvelut Oy and the services they offer to customers, as well as the transition to the new generation AMR 2.0 metering technology. The work also investigated the new technical features of the new generation of measuring devices. Oulun Seudun Sähkö Verkkopalvelut Oy is an electric utility company that supplies electricity to approximately 33,000 customers in seven municipalities. The work included getting familiar with the legislative requirements concerning the new generation of measuring devices and the changes they bring from the point of view of the network utility company. The work also dealt with the services provided to customers with the current measurement system of Oulu seudun Sähkö Verkkopalvelut Oy. The progress of the mass exchange and acquisition of measuring devices and the planned schedules were also reviewed. The role of the measurement system of electric utility company in the smart grid is important. The development of a smart electricity network brings a solution to the ongoing energy revolution and the change in the production structure of electrical energy. The development of the technical properties of the measuring devices increases the possibilities of the smart grid and creates the opportunity to serve customers with even better quality.
