This bachelor’s thesis was done to a company working in the technology industry. Because of confidentiality reasons, the company is referred to as Yritys A. The main goal was to find an efficient way to calibrate all measurement devices that are used to judge the quality of supplier produced parts.

The theory part of this thesis highlights the requirements and instructions that different standards set for calibration functions. All devices that are used for quality assurance have to be calibrated during pre-determined periods and in proper environmental conditions. Calibrations need to be tracked with a device register and all devices need to be marked permanently. This thesis also presents the main parts of a calibration system which are for example calibration periods, measurement space and calibration instructions. A company can decide the periods by itself, but the changes to period lengths should be made based on actual measurement results. Temperature is the key requirement for the calibration space and it should be maintained at 20 °C. Also, each measuring device has to have its own calibration instructions.
