The goal of my thesis is to study the origin of the rhythmics of New Orleans and the history of blues until the sixties. I study here the music of Micke Bjorklof & Blue Strip wich is based on blues-styles of Louisiana. I analyze the rhythmics of four our song and I am also doing a comparative study to the rhythms occurring in New Orleans. As the material I have used scientific studies, Oxford music online-service, english drumbooks and english literature. Finnish material was very little, therefore the material used was mostly english.

The result is that New Orleans has developed very own looking and sounding rhythmics from the rhythms arrived there. Certain core-rhythms are traceable in many cultures and countries with different names, so it has been hard to show exactly where some rhythm is coming from. These rhythms are the foundation for many more complex rhythms to which New Orleans rhytmics is also based on.

These results are directly exploitable at my work and bring new knowledge to the finnish material. For the further studies would be good to study the meaning of Congo Square-area for the New Orleans. Congo Square was the place where all new musical elements arrived first, therefore its significance was huge to the musiclife of New Orleans.
