Luonto ja seikkailu fysioterapiassa : systemoitu kirjallisuuskatsaus

The natural environment has a proven positive effects on the physical, mental and social health and well-being. Experimental forms of activities have been adopted in a variety of fields such as rehabilitation and therapy. Participation and experimentalism can activate and motivate the otherwise passive customers moving. The starting point of this research was to expand the view of different methods used in physiotherapy. I am interested in natural environment and there applied activities like adventure methods. Through my research the aim was to expand my knowledge as a physiotherapist and to find out ways to apply nature and adventure methods in physiotherapy with different target groups. The collaborator of this research was the Degree Program in Physiotherapy in Oulu University of Applied Sciences. The aim of this study was to increase the awareness of adventure and nature applied as a physiotherapeutic tool. Beneficiarys are physiotherapy students, physiotherapists in the working life together with multi-professional team. The purpose of this research was to find current, scientific, reliable and professional information about the subject. The research method in this review was systematized literature review. The study has been done from physiotherapeutical point of view which is also reflected how the results were viewed. The literature review searches was performed in five databases called Cochrane, PEDro, Elsevier, Medic and Ebsco. The main results were that nature and adventure were possible to apply with different target groups and people of different ages. The means to apply nature and adventure depended on the target group. It was found that nature and adventure have positive effects on well-being and health but the methods are not suitable for all target groups or alone nature and adventure methods are not efficient enough to rehabilitate. This is why nature and adventure methods can be integrated into another rehabilitation method such as cognitive behavioral therapy. The suggestion for further research would be a thesis where nature and adventure exploited as part of physiotherapy as well as observed the effects of the methods. Possibly nature and adventure could be integrated into another method and there could be a test group and control group in the study design.
