The main point of this thesis was to study how young people are being involved in event productions in Finland. The idea was to find out what concrete tasks young people can accomplish in different kind of event productions. Answers to many questions like what kind of resources are used during the participation processes and what is the role of a youth worker in the project. The term of participation or involvement is abstract so it is defined in the theoretical framework. The theoretical framework also deals with participation, democracy and laws defining the policy of youth work. As a part of the thesis a questionnaire was designed and conducted to youth workers in Finland. The experiences and opinions about participation were learned from the answers. The outcome was that the process of involvement varies a lot among different municipalities and there is a clear necessity to define the different kind of processes of participation and the tools of evaluation for youth workers so that the quality of involvement can grow in the future.
