The purpose of our thesis is to make an action guide for the staff of Vihantis service home that helps them facing aggressive residents. The goal of the action guide is to improve the readiness of the staff when they face an aggressive resident and to standardize and improve the action quality when facing residents. The service home of Vihanti is a private company of mental health and intoxidant that offers assisted living conditions in three different units in Ilveskorpi. Ilveskorpi located in a Vihanti.

We collected information for our research through situations where aggressive behavior has been dealt with and from theory of aggressive behavior and what causes it. According to Pulkkinen every human has a structural and a physiological possibility to act aggressively. We also discuss ways to control an aggressively behaving person. There are many affective models, such as the MAPA- method. We ended up using varying information and behavior mod-els in the action guide for Vihanti service home.

The action guide consists of guide lines for the staff that help them notice aggressive residents and how to face them, and how to handle and deal with different reactions. At the end of the action guide we also tell when to exit the situation and call for executive assistance.

As a further research subject we could do a follow-up research about the usage of our plan and the possible benefits it has given.
