We made a projectwork orientation guide to Vihanti ambulance Petteri Härkönen. There hasn’t been such kind of file in this firm; the orientation has happened in company-operation by an older employee and businessman. The orientation has been good before but workers and orientation givers have changed as the years have gone by. We got the idea for our thesis from the manager of the company and other employees. The new health carelaw came into force in early 2013, so it was updated. Today the company is resbonsible for the northern osthrobothnia´s hospital patient´s transfers, together with three other companies. After changes the company is resbonsible for the acute emergency care in Vihanti.

The purpose of this file is to make easy for the new employees to start of working and by this to improve work safety and patient safety. According the occupational safety the employer must give enough information for employee about all the threats and risks that work environment may include and also brief enough for work, circumstances at work and instruments that they use and proper and safety use for them. Orientation is a big part of every workplace and with good orientation you will increase quality and effectivity and make a better mood and stability of personel.

Our aim was to create a clear, easy to read and understandable orientation file that would also be easy to update. In our orientation guide we have gone through some essential vocabulary and concepts of primary care, as well as the law, because of which primary care has undergone changes in recent years. Also, part of the main areas of the guidebook are explained in the text.

Feedback of orientation file has been positive and there hasn’t been much to add. We get the final feedback when our new colleaque get to read the text and gives their opinion. We hope that this new orientation file gives necessary information for both new and old employees. The orientation folder can always be checked again to if necessary.
