This thesis was made as a personal project without a client. Giving and receiving feedback effectively in artistic productions, as well as, challenges and problems in the feedback situations were investigated in the thesis. Source materials were gathered from literature related to feedback and working as a producer, and through interviews to creative professionals in the field. The theme was inspired by personal experience as a director in a production as a part of this thesis.

It was found in the conclusions that feedback can be gathered in many different ways, and innovative methods of gathering feedback can be created. The feedback is not an automatic solution but more of a conversational skill which could sometimes be challenging and time consuming. It is possible to practise to give and receive feedback. In production work, the feedback should always concern work-related matters and the goals of the production without forgetting the receiver's individual personality. However the concern on individual personality should not override the goals of the production or otherwise hinder the feedback process in any case. Also the amount of focus on individual personality depends on whether the feedback is given from one's behavior or about one's work and achieving those work-related goals. The feedback about one's behavior should be kept objective but feedback about one's artwork etc. can take notice of one's personal style and personality.

Beginners and also professionals in different kind of creative productions may use this thesis as a base of knowledge. Furthermore, some topics presented in this thesis may also be applied to other professions.
