Nuorten salibandypelaajien motoristen taitojen kehittyminen harjoituskauden aikana

The coach’s role in floorball has changed towards a deterministic athlete development that requires players and coaches to understand the requirements of the sport. According to the literature, versatile motoric skills can support the development of characteristics required in floorball and prevent injuries caused by sport. The thesis is being carried out in co-operation with the Merikoski SBT age group team 2004.

The goal of the study is to describe the changes in the physical motoric skills required in the floorball, supported by regular physical motoric exercise. At the same time, target is to investigate how physiotherapy can be used in supporting development of characteristics required in floorball. Changes in motor skills determined by the possible difference between initial and final measurement.

The required physical characteristics for the floorball player are defined in the framework based on the sport analysis. In addition, it is determined how physical motoric skills affect the characteristics required in the floorball and how to physiotherapeutically support the training of the characteristics required in the sport.

As conclusion, regular instructed physical exercise together with physiotherapeutic guidance has influence in the development of the required characteristics of the floorball. The results of the study period show that differences between body sides had been equalized.

The execution of another similar study cycle would be important because the benefits of the positive change achieved during the first period of research could be better explored.
