In this thesis, a customised design platform for structural designing and planning is made for Vertex BD design program. By modifying the customer platform, the aim is to ease and quicken the structural planning for design company MPK-Suunnittelu Ltd which is done with Vertex BD design program. The purpose is to automatize customized structural solutions. The thesis is to also describe the differences between traditional designing and information modelling and the advantages of information modelling in structural planning. There are no instructions for creating a customised platform. The aim of this thesis is to work as instructions for MPK-Suunnittelu Ltd in creating and modifying platforms. The thesis was made based on the training given by Vertex Systems Ltd by researching and experimenting. The thesis is made for the structural planning of a one-storey house with a wooden foundation. As a result, detailed instructions for creating and modifying a customised platform were made. The overall platform of the Vertex BD design program is extensive so this thesis is only a small part of the creation of a customised platform.
