The goal for this thesis is to provide a comprehensive information package about the operation and testing of the control systems of a road vehicle to support the workshop business of Huoltoasema Mäkelä Ky. The purpose is to collect information from various sources to create a useful informative hand book that can be used to train the employees of Huoltoasema Mäkelä Ky. The information is collected from literature of the field of control systems and from the international standards that apply to the dynamic testing of road vehicles.

As a result, from this thesis is a manual that includes information for basis about basic driving dynamics and functions of regular wheel brake systems and the design principles of a braking system. Driving control system part consists of the components, function and control of anti-lock braking, acceleration skid regulation and electronic stability control systems.

To improve the work in the future, it might be of use to pack up and simplify the information in the manual to make it more sufficient to use also in the middle of a maintenance work concerning driving control systems.
